JLB-Yaran at Pacific 2019 International Maritime Exposition
Pacific 2019 – International Maritime Exposition in Sydney 8-10
October, was an overwhelming success. Over 622 exhibitors provided our Industry
the opportunity to present solutions, collaborate with current and future
partners and understand what our war fighters will require to effectively
operate current and future capabilities.
JLB-Yaran was very proud to exhibit our company at Pacific
2019 and would like to thank all the visitors and companies who took in
interest in our growing business. We were blown away with the support and
encouragement we received from the Industry and Government and look forward to
building on the hard work, presented in Sydney last week.
No doubt the highlight of our week was signing an MOU with Navantia
Australia, who have championed our Indigenous Development & Employment
Program, to create and build long-term careers for Indigenous talent in our
Industry. JLB-Yaran is thrilled to have the support of Navantia Australia, a
company with hundreds of years of experience and a key Shipbuilding partner
with Australia since 2006. Having recently designed the Hobart Class guided missile
destroyers (DDG) and designing and co-manufacturing the Canberra Class
amphibious assault ships (LHD), Navantia is now building and preparing to
maintain two Replenishment Ships (AOR) for the Australian Navy. JLB-Yaran is
not only looking forward to working with Navantia to increase Indigenous
employment opportunities, but also strengthening their capability to deliver
sustainment requirements to the Australian Department of Defence.
Nostalgically, it was Vice Admiral Russell Crane AO CSM RAN
(Ret’ d), who witnessed the MOU signing as a representative of Defence SA. Vice
Admiral Crane was the Chief of Navy in 2008-2011, when four of our management
team were building their Military careers with the Royal Australian Navy. Our
Managing Director Brendan Dumbrell did reflect on this stating “it’s incredible
to think 10 years ago I was an Assistant Supply Officer at sea when Russ was
the CN (Chief of Navy) and now we have him endorsing and supporting our growing
company”. A special thanks to our good friend Jeremy Satchell, Principal Supply
Consultant at ICN who facilitated the signing ceremony with Navantia.
After a successful and busy week in Sydney, our management
team is now looking forward to working with all our current and future partners
and clients, to build our workforce and support the Defence Industry
requirements. The hard work starts now!
